Pope calls interdenominational marriages "sign of faith unity"

On his recent trip to Poland, Pope Benedict XVI met with leaders from other Christian traditions. The leaders discussed marriages between Christians of different denominations as well as other interdenominational issues. Although 95% of Poles are Catholic and marry other Catholics, the pope said that "marriage between Christians of different denominations can be 'a practical laboratory of unity' if the husband and wife are guided and supported by both their churches."

Sounds nice and all

In my experience, most (not all) families of mixed denominations tend to suffer--kids don't end up going to either one, etc. But that's just my experience. -- Pastor Dale Webmaster, http://LCMSPastor.com

I agree...

I'll have to agree because I've noticed the same result. Still, I was floored to see the pope, of all people, saying something positive about mixed marriages. Personally, I recommend against interdenominational marriages. I've rarely seen it work successfully. In my opinion, interdenominational marriage ranks only below marriage between a believer or non-believer. "Unequally yoked" and such...
